Give in Shelby's name
Here is every way I know to help, from $10 on her birthday to a fundraiser in your own dog's name.
$475 raised toward $5,000
Updated October 30, 2026. Every dollar goes straight to Morris Animal Foundation through Shelby's page.
Every gift is matched. Through November 30, I'll match every gift dollar for dollar, up to $1,000.
Ways to help
-
Give $10 for her 10th
November 1 would have been Shelby's 10th birthday. Ten dollars is plenty. On Shelby's page, choose Other and type 10. While the match lasts, your $10 becomes $20.
-
Give every month
On Shelby's page, choose "every month" instead of "One time" when you give. A monthly gift keeps helping long after her birthday. Your November gift counts toward the match. Give monthly on Shelby's page
-
Give in memory of your own dog
If you lost a dog too, give in their name. Add your dog's name to the message with your gift, so they are remembered there with Shelby. Give in your dog's name
-
Double it at work
Many employers match gifts to nonprofits. Search your company's giving portal for Morris Animal Foundation, or ask HR how to send in a match. If the form asks for a tax ID, it's 84-6032307. More on matching gifts from Morris
-
Start your own fundraiser
Anyone can start a fundraiser for Morris Animal Foundation, for a birthday or in memory of their own dog. Shelby's page belongs to Life After Hemangiosarcoma, a Morris team of owners who lost their dogs to it.

Take the #FetchForShelby challenge
Take time out of your busy day to play fetch with the ones you love. Post it with #FetchForShelby and tag three friends to go next. How the challenge works
Where the money goes
Gifts on Shelby's page go to Morris Animal Foundation, a nonprofit that has funded animal health science since 1948. Morris runs the Hemangiosarcoma Initiative. I never touch the money, and Morris sends your receipt. On the form, you can choose to cover the fees so Morris gets your whole gift.
The goal: a research project named after Shelby. I'm raising money to help fund a hemangiosarcoma study in her name, ideally one working on early detection. When Morris and I settle on the project, I'll name it here. Until then, gifts support Morris Animal Foundation's work.
Share her story
Sharing costs nothing, and it might send someone to the vet sooner. Copy one of these, add a photo of your own dog if you like, and post it anywhere.
Her 10th birthday
November 1 would have been Shelby's 10th birthday. Hemangiosarcoma, a fast cancer of the blood vessels, took her less than 48 hours after her vet visit. Shelby's Fund raises money for hemangiosarcoma research through Morris Animal Foundation. Give $10 for her 10th, and it will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $1,000, through November 30. shelbysfund.org #FetchForShelby
Know the signs
Hemangiosarcoma is a cancer of the blood vessels. Older German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, and Labs are at higher risk, and it often shows few or no clear signs until a tumor bleeds. Know the signs: - Weakness or tiredness that comes and goes - Pale gums - A swollen belly - Not wanting to eat - Fast or hard breathing - Collapse Pale gums, collapse, or trouble breathing: go to an emergency vet now, even if your dog seems to bounce back.
